We are incredibly proud that in our first year entering this fiercely competitive category, we won Best Independent Kitchen Retailer, voted for by industry professionals. With showrooms nationwide entering this renowned competition, it is a true honour to take home this award.

BKU, or Bathroom and Kitchen Update, started in September 1994 and is at the forefront in coverage of the latest products and services. BKU reaches 15,697 key buyers and specifiers within the Bathroom, Kitchen and Bedroom (KBB) sector. Designed to recognise and reward excellence in the KBB Sector across the UK, the BKU Awards took place on the 9th of June at the Royal Lancaster Hotel, London.

With the BKU Awards being a nationwide competition, we were against kitchen showrooms from all across the UK. The BKU Awards are distinguished from its competitors by their distinctive peer-to-peer judging approach since the winning seal of approval comes from the diligent individuals who are the backbone of our industry and, ultimately, matter most. After entering, System Six Kitchens were shortlisted along with 20 other exceptional kitchen retailers. Making the Finalists shortlist is an accomplishment in itself, but to leave London winning the entire category was the greatest achievement.

This year, the BKU Awards were nothing short of spectacular. Hosted by the infamous Seann Walsh, it was an evening filled with glamour and excitement and surrounded by the best in the home improvement industry. Tom Dalton, our Sales Director, Donna Tancock, our Regional Sales Manager and Emma Watts, our Marketing Manager, attended the BKU Awards to represent System Six Kitchens in our fiercely competitive category and go on to collect the coveted glass trophy.

In addition, we extend heartfelt congratulations to Donna Tancock, a previous BKU Award winner, who made it to the final five nationally in the Best Sales Representative category. Donna's passion and commitment have consistently impressed her colleagues and clients alike in going above and beyond with every one of her customers, with no task too big or too small.

As a company, System Six Kitchens has grown substantially in the last few years. Still a family-run business, we are proudly the largest kitchen manufacturer in the South West. Established in 1975, System Six Kitchens now employs almost 100 local people in and around Exeter. As a business, we are also making a continued effort to reduce our carbon footprint in every aspect of the company. Our designers use 100% electric vehicles, which has reduced our carbon emissions by almost 20 tonnes in one month alone. Our packaging is made of 100% recycled cardboard and our cabinets are entirely fabricated from FSC-certified wood-based material. Not only that, we aim to recycle as much as possible and currently recycle all of our wood, polystyrene, cardboard and metal waste. Our diligence in bringing our customers the best quality cabinets and service and our skilled and hard-working staff's dedication led us to win Independent Kitchen Retailer of The Year 2023.

"We are so incredibly proud of the whole team here at System Six Kitchens and the immense amount of work that has gone on behind the scenes to make this a reality. Independent Kitchen Retailer of the Year has a nice ring to it, and it feels like we are just getting started!" – Tom Dalton, Sales Director.
