Trevor hand-made his very first kitchens in a workshop housed in one of the old arches on Exeter Quay. He was a craftsman and an extremely hard worker and it wasn’t long before word of his business spread. He quickly out-grew his initial premises and moved to 6 King Street.
By 1985, a System Six kitchen was being featured as a major selling point on property adverts; and the company had moved its premises to the booming industrial estate of Marsh Barton. A new manufacturing facility was created and a showroom opened.
System Six Kitchens is an independent, family-run business that was started in 1975 by Malcolm Trevor Foster. Trevor sadly passed away in 2011, and the company is now run by Trevor’s eldest son Ian. Trevor’s youngest daughter Carly is one of our team of kitchen designers.
Quantum is our own brand of kitchens, which is sold through a network of independent showrooms, as well as our own, across the South and South West of England and South Wales.
In its current form, System Six Kitchens stands as the largest kitchen manufacturer in the South West with a 40,000 sq ft factory producing 1000+ cabinets per week and employing 80+ staff members from the local area. You may think this is an awful lot of staff and cabinets for just one showroom and you’d be right - a large part of our business is wholesale.
Our kitchen showroom houses upwards of 8 full-size displays, with changes occurring annually to showcase emerging trends. Two kitchen displays are fully functional, allowing us to host regular NEFF and Siemens appliance demonstration days as well as informal Supper Club evenings, the menu for which is only revealed on arrival.
Thanks to our size, we are able to offer finance on kitchens sold through our showroom, a facility other local, independent kitchen showrooms are not able to replicate.
Being an independent business ourselves, we like to support other local, independent businesses wherever possible. We’re proud to say we have great relationships with businesses from all sectors, such as Steve Bristow Stone Masonry, Signs Express and Clearly Glass Ltd.
