HERITAGE
Trevor hand-made his very first kitchens in a workshop housed in one of the old arches on Exeter Quay. He was a craftsman and an extremely hard worker and it wasn’t long before word of his business spread. He quickly out-grew his initial premises and moved to 6 King Street.
By 1985, a System Six kitchen was being featured as a major selling point on property adverts; and the company had moved its premises to the booming industrial estate of Marsh Barton. A new manufacturing facility was created and a showroom opened.
WHO WE ARE
System Six Kitchens is an independent, family-run business that was started in 1975 by Malcolm Trevor Foster. Trevor sadly passed away in 2011, and the company is now run by Trevor’s eldest son Ian. Trevor’s youngest daughter Carly is one of our team of kitchen designers.
TODAY
In its current form, System Six Kitchens stands as the largest kitchen manufacturer in the South West with a 40,000 sq ft factory producing 1000+ cabinets per week and employing 80+ staff members from the local area. You may think this is an awful lot of staff and cabinets for just one showroom and you’d be right - a large part of our business is wholesale.
SHOWROOM
Our kitchen showroom houses upwards of 8 full-size displays, with changes occurring annually to showcase emerging trends. Two kitchen displays are fully functional, allowing us to host various events and even, most recently, provide a filming space for the excellent, Exeter-based Exploding Bakery.
KEEPING IT LOCAL
Being an independent business ourselves, we like to support other local, independents wherever possible. We’re proud to say we have great relationships with businesses from all sectors, such as Steve Bristow Stone Masonry, Signs Express, Roastworks, Clearly Glass Ltd and Otter Vale.
