WHO WE ARE
System Six Kitchens is an independent, family-run business that was started in 1975 by Malcolm Trevor Foster. Trevor sadly passed away in 2011, and the company is now run by Trevor’s eldest son Ian. Trevor’s youngest daughter Carly is one of our team of kitchen designers.
HERITAGE
Trevor hand-made his very first kitchens in a workshop housed in one of the old arches on Exeter Quay. He was a craftsman and an extremely hard worker and it wasn’t long before word of his business spread. He quickly out-grew his initial premises and moved to 6 King Street.
By 1985, a System Six kitchen was being featured as a major selling point on property adverts; and the company had moved its premises to the booming industrial estate of Marsh Barton. A new manufacturing facility was created and a showroom opened.
TODAY
Today, System Six Kitchens is the largest kitchen manufacturer in the South West. From our 40,000 sq ft Exeter factory, we produce over 1,000 cabinets every week and employ almost 100 local people across manufacturing, design, installation and support roles.
While many customers know us through our showroom, retail is only part of the story. A substantial part of our business involves manufacturing kitchens for independent retailers, developers, contractors and trade professionals throughout the UK
SHOWROOM
Our Exeter showroom is home to five full-size kitchen displays, each carefully designed to showcase a range of styles, finishes and innovative storage solutions. We regularly update our displays to reflect changing trends, new product launches and evolving customer needs. Several of our kitchen displays are fully functional, allowing us to host live cooking demonstrations, customer events and industry workshops throughout the year.
Alongside our kitchen collections, we have recently introduced a dedicated bedroom display, highlighting our bespoke fitted furniture and demonstrating how our design expertise extends beyond the kitchen into other areas of the home.
KEEPING IT LOCAL
Being an independent business ourselves, we like to support other local independent businesses wherever possible. We're proud to have built strong relationships with companies across a wide range of sectors, including Steve Bristow Stone Masonry, Signs Express, Roastworks, Clearly Glass Ltd and Otter Vale.
Our showroom has also become a hub for community events and collaborations. From live appliance demonstrations and customer workshops to baking masterclasses with Great British Bake Off contestant Toby Littlewood, we love bringing people together and creating experiences that go beyond kitchen design.
