Recommended to System Six Kitchens by close friends, the owners of this Devon home were looking for a timeless kitchen design that felt in keeping with the rest of their property. Working alongside designer Carly, they brought their vision to life with a bespoke Shaldon kitchen in striking Heritage Green.
The kitchen formed part of a wider home renovation, and the homeowners were focused on ensuring that the space wasn’t just beautiful, but supremely practical too. Their brief was centred around maximising storage, so that every item had a dedicated place and the worktops could be kept clear at all times. Carly responded with clever storage solutions and bespoke features that brought both order and elegance to the design.
THE RESULT
Shaldon is our modern, real wood shaker door with a detailed moulding that creates the appearance of in-frame cabinetry. Finished in Heritage Green, it adds depth and character, while the custom drawer fronts, Walnut dovetail drawer boxes and bespoke cupboards ensure every detail is crafted to perfection.
Running from floor to ceiling, the cabinetry is finished with Shaldon cornice’s, pelmets and moulded skirting plinths, enhancing the feel of grand, built-in furniture. A brass rail and library ladder allow for easy access to the upper cupboards, turning storage into a standout design moment.
Quartz worktops and a full-height splashback wrap around the space and were fabricated in Germany to achieve a seamless join, giving the impression of one continuous slab of stone.
BESPOKE EXTRAS
Among the standout features is the walk-in walnut corner larder, offering ample concealed storage while adding natural texture to the space. The AGA is framed by a traditional overmantle, creating a classic focal point in the room, while a Shaldon framed end panel on the island adds subtle, structured detailing.
Two Quooker taps have been incorporated. One dedicated to a separate tea sink, making the space ideal for entertaining.
Perhaps the most eye-catching element is the bar unit, complete with Walnut wine glass holders, LED strip lighting and walnut shelving. The centre of the doors features a Regency Rosette Diamond Grille, adding a touch of vintage sophistication to the space.
