Wood Grain Modern Bespoke Minimalist Kitchen

MODERN BESPOKE MINIMALIST KITCHEN

Situated on the clifftops of Labrador Bay in Shaldon, this award-winning home features a sleek bespoke System Six kitchen giving sublime 180-degree views over the bay.

THE BRIEF

Working with South Devon-based architecture company VESP, the customers transformed the original building into the modern award-winning home you see below in the pictures. With each room maximising the views over the bay thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows, they were looking for a kitchen that would blend in with the exterior of the house and its surroundings.

THE DESIGN

Looking for a design that reflected the surrounding woodland, the owners opted for their wall cabinets and island to feature Smoked Larch and Deep Oak Slab doors. These minimalistic doors with their distinctive wood grain texture tie in well with the surrounding woodland whilst their dark shades provide the perfect contrast for the bold green and coral tiles on the walls and island.

The waterfall peninsula island features a dark quartz worktop veined with golden threads seamlessly marrying the bright tiles with the dark cabinets. It’s a fantastic space to prepare food, socialise and enjoy a chilled beverage from the integrated wine fridge.

All countertop appliances are housed in a bi-fold breakfast cabinet at the end of the room allowing the customer to keep their worktops and surfaces clear. Tucked into the corner of the kitchen, it keeps the space uninhibited.

At the following end of the room, the fridge and freezer are hidden behind Deep Oak cabinets which can be opened with Matt dark bronze handles that feature throughout continuing the minimalistic motif throughout.

THE RESULT

The finished result is a dreamy modern minimalist kitchen and dining space offering breathtaking views of Labrador Bay. The unique colour scheme elevates the entire space further playing well with the kitchen’s textures to perfectly reflect the vast amount of natural light reflecting off the sea into the kitchen from the floor-to-ceiling windows.
