Soft Taupe Grey cabinetry, natural oak detailing and carefully considered bespoke features create a kitchen that feels perfectly at home within this beautifully renovated Devon property.
THE BRIEF
As part of a wider renovation, the homeowners wanted a kitchen that respected the character of their Devon home while making everyday cooking and entertaining easier. Rather than replacing its period charm, the new design embraces it, working around the existing Aga and architectural details to create a space that feels bright, practical and timeless.
Lily O'Sullivan designed an in-frame Bampton kitchen finished in Taupe Grey with a subtle woodgrain texture. Traditional detailing, bespoke cabinetry and carefully selected materials combine to create a kitchen that is every bit as functional as it is beautiful.
THE DESIGN
Every element of the design was considered to maximise both storage and usability while maintaining a classic aesthetic. The original Aga remains the heart of the room, complemented by a discreet CDA Domino hob alongside it for additional cooking flexibility. Extending the worktop behind the Aga helped open up the room visually while providing valuable preparation space.
Throughout the kitchen, bespoke oak interiors elevate the cabinetry. Oak dovetail drawers, a handcrafted knife block, solid oak cutlery trays and a dedicated baking tray cupboard keep everything organised and within easy reach. Deep pan drawers, an Anthracite LIRO Magic Corner and curved corner cabinets make excellent use of every inch of storage.
One of the standout features is the bespoke dresser, complete with fluted glass doors, integrated LED lighting, open oak shelving and a built-in wine rack, creating a beautiful focal point for displaying glassware and ceramics.
Silestone Snowy Ibiza quartz worktops pair perfectly with the painted cabinetry, while an oak worktop introduces warmth and texture. Brass butt hinges and matching brass handles complete the timeless palette, with skirting plinths providing the traditional furniture-style finish.
