A friend of mine has a System Six kitchen and she recommended you. I was introduced to Pete Lamble (fitter, electrician, plumber) by my daughter and he also recommended you.

I got on with Alex (designer) and Pete so well. I went to a competitor before choosing System Six and, as well as being much more expensive, I didn't gel with the designer there.

Alex was very, very good. He had lots of ideas and it didn't matter how many times I went into the showroom and said I wasn't sure about something on the design, he would always make me a cup of coffee and we'd sit down and sort it out. I didn't want gloss doors as my friend has problems with finger marks on hers, and I wanted the kitchen to be light. I needed the ovens to be placed quite high as I have problems with my back and part of the kitchen ceiling is sloped so the cupboards needed to be cut around this. Alex suggested a pull-out spice rack to go in the narrow cupboard next to my oven. I didn't go for that option but really wish I had.

The archetypal Shaker Kitchen, Wickham has it all – a defined 5-piece composition, a texture only achievable with real wood and a generous frame.

The warming drawer is excellent, I couldn't be without one now. I used to use my top oven to warm plates but now I have 2 ovens and a warming drawer. There is lots of cupboard space too, I haven't filled it all!
